Frequently Asked Questions

Luminari’s FAQ page is designed to answer questions we get most often from parents and students interested in our summer camps for teens. However, if you have a specific question about one of our camps, please feel free to contact us at 412-877-1888.

  1. Do you accept younger kids if they are mature for their age?

We have found that our camps are best suited to a certain age and grade level. We accept rising 8th through 12 graders only.

  1. Do you offer scholarships or financial aid?

We offer two essay-based full-ride scholarships each year, including one for English-as-a-second-language students. We also offer financial aid-based scholarships for up to 80% off tuition to families who qualify based on income.

  1. How do I apply?

Applications can be found on our website at www.luminari.org.

  1. Why is an essay required to apply for your camps?

We require a short essay for each camp. This gives us a better picture of our campers, their insights, goals and expectations for the camp experience.

  1. Do you grant refunds?

We do not typically give refunds, but non-refunded tuition can be used for future camps.

  1. Do you offer transportation to and from camp?

We do not offer transportation to and from our camps. However, transportation is provided for field trips as well as for our Ambassador camp trip to Washington, D.C.

  1. Do you provide meals?

Yes, lunch and snacks are provided for all campers. All meals are also provided during the two-day Ambassador camp excursion to Washington, D.C.
