Exciting news from the Luminari community! Our friend and culinary genius, Doug Heilman, is set to showcase his cooking prowess on the national stage. A self-described foodie, Doug grew up on his family’s beef farm where food and the art of home cooking were central to his upbringing. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutritional Sciences from Penn State University under his belt, Doug has seamlessly blended his passions for education and gastronomy. He’s the mastermind behind the popular YouTube channel “Doug Cooking,” where he delights viewers with his recipe secrets and culinary demonstrations.
Last year, Doug brought his expertise to Camp Delicious, leaving a lasting impression as a guest judge in a thrilling culinary showdown. He also contributed his skills as a teaching assistant and chef at our 2022 camp. Now, Doug is set to take a monumental step in his culinary journey. He’s been selected to compete in the third season of the acclaimed PBS series, The Great American Recipe. This prestigious selection places him among an elite cadre of talented amateur chefs from across the nation, all competing for the coveted title.
