Final day of Camp Delicious! Mystery Box Competition

Final day of Camp Delicious! 2025 Mystery Box Competition with judges Chris Fennimore, Sally Wiggin and Michael Reed-Iams.

by Luminari featuring recipes created by our 2025 campers

Camp Delicious! students wrapped up the week with flavor during our Mystery Box Competition on our last day of summer camp. With surprise ingredients such as Belgium dark chocolate, caramel cheese, canned jackfruit, and peanut butter powder (revealed at the last moment) each of our 4 teams had just one chance to dream up a dish that was imaginative, delicious, and beautifully plated.

From jackfruit clouds to nut-crusted brigadeiros, the results were nothing short of amazing. Campers blended unexpected flavors such as caramel cheese and dark chocolate with homemade berry jams and nuts to create some unexpected textures and flavors. These weren’t just desserts, they were edible stories crafted with a dash of daring.

Our “celebrity” judges, Chris Fennimore, Sally Wiggin, and Michael Reed-Iams, tasted each creation and offered thoughtful, flavorful feedback. Their presence added a touch of star power and genuine encouragement, making the whole competition feel like a celebration of both skill and spirit.

Here are the recipes from three of our camper-led kitchens:

  • Chocolate Waffle “Cake”
By Kitchen 2: Carolyn, Alexander, Milo, and Tommy
A layered twist on classic cake, folded and filled with cream and chocolate, dusted with powdered sugar.
  • Berry Brigadeiro Crunch
By Kitchen 3: John, Max, Jayden, and Leia
A Brazilian-inspired truffle filled with peanut butter powder and caramel cheese, coated in nuts and nestled on a smear of homemade berry jam.
  • Jackfruit Cloud
By Kitchen 4: Finn, Stella, Waverly, and Gavin
A whipped fruit base topped with peanut butter sauce and melted chocolate, served like a dream on a plate.

2025 Camp Delicious! Mystery Box Competition Recipes

Each dish reflected the campers’ creativity, teamwork, and growing confidence in the kitchen, and we’ve featured their recipes here for our whole community to try them out and recreate the magic for yourself (👉🔗 download the recipes). As judge Sally Wiggin put it, “You didn’t just cook, you created.” And we couldn’t agree more.

Please note: Kitchen 1 with Owen, Sonya, Norah, and Annon also crafted a wonderful dessert, but their recipe was never turned in, but we’re still holding out hope for a surprise submission!
